Randy Owen has Tornado Scare
(Nashville, Tennessee…) – January 8, 2009 --The storm system that brought much-need rain to the drought-stricken southeast also delivered a tornado warning that sent Randy Owen and a PEOPLE Magazine photo team scurrying for his basement late Tuesday afternoon. After shooting at various locations around Randy's hometown of Ft. Payne, Alabama, the group headed to Randy's Tennessee River Music Farm. They arrived at the farm to the tune of tornado sirens blaring, so everyone congregated in the farm office to watch the weather reports. Randy watched the warnings get closer and closer to his ranch, and he soon gave the word to head for cover. All nine people piled into two vehicles, raced to Randy's home and headed for the basement. Thirty minutes passed with no reports of a tornado touching down, but everyone was grateful for the shelter.
PEOPLE Magazine's special Country Music issue containing the photo shoot is scheduled to hit stands on February 6, 2009.
