Event Promotes USA Weekend's Nationwide Day of Volunteerism
(Nashville, Tennessee…) – October 16, 2008 – Less than two weeks before Randy Owen's debut solo album, One On One, and his autobiography, "Born Country," hit stores on November 4, the lead singer of the legendary group Alabama will roll up his sleeves and join The Big 98 WSIX in Nashville for USA Weekend's 18th Annual "Make A Difference Day" on Saturday, October 25, 2008.
Owen and Big 98 WSIX staffers will join 200 volunteers from Hands On Nashville, an affiliate of HandsOn Network, to complete a variety of service projects in Middle Tennessee nonprofit organizations and schools as part of "The Big 98 WSIX Make A Difference Day." He will visit as many sites as time allows to clean, paint, hammer and encourage the volunteers.
At the conclusion of the projects, Owen will perform a concert in the Hall of Fame Park in Downtown Nashville. "The Big 98 WSIX Make A Difference Day" volunteers will be admitted free, and tickets for the general public will be available at the gate for a suggested donation of $5.00.
Anyone interested in filling one of the 200 available volunteer slots are asked to register online at WSIX.com or on the Hands On Nashville website HON.org. Volunteers will be assigned a selected agency or school site where they will meet at 9:00 a.m. on the morning of October 25, 2008 and work until noon.
What is Make A Difference Day? Make A Difference Day is the largest national day of helping others -- a celebration of neighbors helping neighbors. More than 3 million Americans are expected to volunteer for USA WEEKEND's Make A Difference Day on Saturday, Oct. 25.
